I took a trip to Italy last month to do some volunteering and traveling. Have to say, it’s always been a goal of mine to go to Europe. Italy is so beautiful.

First meal in Rome. Have to admit, I did fall into a tourist trap. I didn’t know the hosts and servers were so aggressive in getting tourists into their restaurant. This pizza was definitely on the pricey side.

My first gelato! And it’s milk flavored! Yes.

This is the common size coffee people have in Rome – an expresso. This is so tiny – us Americans need large cups of caffeine to get through the day. Nonetheless, I probably ended up drinking many of these tiny things.

This is what a McDonald’s in Rome looks like. It’s so classy and expensive here, and extremely popular.

Spaghetti and bruschetta by the Trevi Fountain. They just slap that basil on everything. Spaghetti in Italy seems sweeter and firmer – something I’m starting to crave back in the States.

This Chinese restaurant is also by the Trevi Fountain. I didn’t check this place out, but it was full of Asian people.

Had this lasanga for lunch. It was gross. The sauce tasted like canned soup.

Carbonara! They pour a lot of olive oil on everything, on top of the cured bacon and cheese. Al dente.

“Le Carbonara” – the specialty dish of the restaurant in which it’s named after. Fried vegetables, very similar to tempura in Japanese cuisine.

Found a restaurant with cheap prices. Basic Italian dinner, starting with the spaghetti and ending with roasted chicken and potatoes. Olive oil galore.

Seafood pasta – at this restaurant you can make any combination of ingredients and types of pasta. The one I chose was chewy, sort of like eating small clam pasta dough.

And their specialty bruschetta.

Strong ale – very strong. Delicious.
